Born in 1969 in Singapore, Victor Tan received his Diploma in Fine Arts (Ceramics) at La Salle-SIA College of the Arts in 1997 and Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from the RMIT in 1999.
He has held solo shows and group exhibitions in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and the United Kingdom. In 1999, he was the only Singaporean who won the coveted "Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Award", granting him a six-month residency programme in London.
Since his graduation from university, he has been a professional sculptor, firmly establishing his place within the local art scene with stainless steel wire as his chosen medium. He is adept at creating human
sculptures with wire - an area which he personally holds ground for in Singapore.
His works are much sought after by local as well as overseas collectors. They are found in public areas
around the island including that at the main entrance to the Singapore Expo, Asian Civilisations Museum and Botanical Gardens.
