Tan Sock Fong attained a Diploma in Art majoring in Printmaking in 1985 from the La Salle-SIA College of the Arts. Spurred by her first smitten encounter with glass art, she sojourned to the United Kingdom for her Bachelor of Art and Design (Hons) in glass and printmaking from the Wolverhampton University in 1995.
Following her overseas studies, she acquired a Specialist Diploma in Arts and Events Management from the Temasek Polytechnic in 2000. Since her return, she has had her first solo exhibition titled 'The Unveiling of the Hidden' in 2005 and has also exhibited her glass art both locally and overseas.
Besides leading a taskforce in setting up Singapore's first public printmaking studio in Changkat Changi Community Centre in 1992, she has also designed and fabricated the Singapore Green Plan 2012 for the National Environment Agency in 2004.
Locally, she is a rare gem for she is one of the few artists who employs glass as a medium. She feels that modern city-dwellers have a tendency to take glass for granted given its ubiquity, and overlook its unique qualities. Today, she is a full time artist, an art consultant and a committee member of the Sculpture Society (Singapore).
