Born in 1967 in the central province of Surin, Thailand, Sumath Kunsumaso was a self-taught artist. He refined his own technique of mixing acrylic paints and gold leaves to lay his canvases with textured shades of black, gold and red.
His paintings are inspired by historical representations of the Buddha. The most striking quality of his works is his ability to play with shadows and light to create elegant forms and serene subjects.
An emerging artist, Sumath Kunsumaso has already participated in various group exhibitions and is enjoying fast growing success with Thai and international collectors alike. Sumath has had the chance to include his works in a book that teaches basic watercolour techniques. The book went on sale in 2000. |
