Born in 1966 in Singapore, Ler Hock Chuan graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1993 with a Diploma in Fine Arts. An award-winning artist, he has acquired several significant awards and commendations such as the First Prize in the Philippe Charriol Contemporary Art Competition in 1994, the Honorary Award in the Philip Morris Singapore Art Award in 1998, and the Distinction Award in the United Overseas Bank Painting of the Year Competition in 2000.
He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan and is actively engaged in the art societies in Singapore being a member of the Singapore Art Society, Singapore Watercolor Society, Modern Art Society, the Society of Chinese Artists, and in the NAFA Alumni Association.
An artist who is versatile in both oils and watercolors, he has since developed a practice in both mediums.
