Lawan Laosuwanwat was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1964. Her interests in art stemmed from her studies in Silpakom University where she graduated from the Faculty of Arts. In her time there, she attended classes that taught the fundaments in drawing, painting, printing (wood cut) and ceramic.
Following her graduation in 1987, she did not pursue a career in the arts, instead choosing to work in media planning. To date, she has been in the media industry for almost 16 years, rising to become a director in a media agency. Nonetheless, her interest in art remained strong.
In 2005, she took up sculpturing as a hobby creating her first mini sculpture entitled 'Tired Cat'. In that same year, she participated in a mixed media exhibition - Three Gen Group - at the City Gallery of the Siam City Hotel in Bangkok. In 2008, she again exhibited at the same location but this time, it was as part of the 'Vichienket Family' sculpture exhibition.
