Born in 1983 in Singapore, Herman Salleh obtained his Diploma in Fine Art Painting from La-Salle SIA College of the Arts in 2004. Since graduation, he has participated in various group exhibitions, mural design and paint community projects.
He was conferred the Certificate of Merit for the Della Butcher award by the Rotary Club of Orchard in 2004. Inspired by Popular Culture, particularly Club Culture, his paintings portray the celebration and joy of being out with people at parties and bars. Like a camera, he seeks to capture the moment or individuality of a person through his usage of intense, bright and bold colors so juxtaposed that they appear to emanate beyond their surface.
His adventurous nature led him to experiment with different techniques and colors to create different styles. Artworks are expressed through a variety of mixed mediums such collages, aerosol sprays, glitter, lacquer, oil and acrylic paints. His narrative medium of expression aims to have the freedom, individuality and independence from restrictive conventions.
